"The strength of Spiritism lies in its philosophy, its appeal to reason and good sense."
                                           - Allan Kardec

SPIRITISM is a word created by Allan Kardec to designate a new spiritualist doctrine. It is a moral philosophy, with a scientific basis, and structured on the following primary principles:

1) Existence of one Creator.

2) Existence and survival of immortal soul.

3) Reincarnation; with the law of Cause and Effect as a regulatory action.

4) Universal Evolution.

5) Existence of mediumship; communication between two planes of existence (the material and the spiritual).

6) Existence of inhabited worlds.

7) Universal moral teachings of Jesus

Kardec’s books are based on paranormal research and responses from the spirit world, with critical  analysis and commentary. The main principles of Spiritism are contained in The Spirits’ Book. The other books of Kardec expand on them, and they are: The Mediums’ Book, The Gospel according to Spiritism, Heaven and Hell, and Genesis.

Here is a facsimile of the vine branch drawn by the spirits, and below their instructions to Allen Kardec for its placement in beginning of The Spirits’ Book.
The spirits explain its meaning:

“Put at the beginning of the book the vine-branch we have drawn for that purpose, because it is the emblem of the work of the Creator. In it are united all the material elements that most fitly symbolize body and spirit: the stem represents the body; the juice, the spirit; the fruit, the union of body and spirit. Man’s labor calls forth the latent qualities of the juice; the labor of the body develops, through the knowledge thus acquired, the latent powers of the soul.”

I have found more and more people (who come from regular traditional religious backgrounds) believing more and more in many of the main principles of what Spiritism teaches, which are really just natural and universal laws.

To identify oneself as evolving beings, to mitigate defects, to rectify errors, to return to the path of progress and to plan a new incarnation is the path chosen by beings who wish to surpass human environments in search of light, a light that is none other than knowledge and responsibility.

There are only two options: advance or stagnation, light or darkness, heaven or hell. In any case, all are freely chosen states of consciousness. Heaven and hell preached by religions does not exist as such; Heaven or hell are states of our own consciousness, are in the image and likeness of the intimate thoughts and feelings with which we vibrate.

The act of dying and returning to the spiritual plane will be the catalyst that helps us to understand the circumstances of what was lived on earth. The catalyst that will predispose us to a change of attitude, to glimpse the future and to accept the consequences of our actions during that life already completed.

…Accordingly, the best tools with which the medium can and should work, if they want to achieve success in their shared work with their [spirit] protectors and guides are as follows:

Patience: Especially at the beginning, since the development of a faculty requires its time because there are no two faculties that are equal. We must trust the protectors and their work, demonstrating the sincere desire for collaboration and submission.
Constancy: Knowing that the results, sooner or later will come. [not giving up serious practice]

Discernment: We must analyze everything, we must study, observe, converse with experienced people to know their different points of view. Do not take for granted or certain anything that does not withstand a rigorous analysis. If something is wrong, reject it, and, if something is doubtful or unclear, set it aside.

Prudence: …when beginning to reap some satisfactory results, taking care not to fall into fanaticism or become elated by pride…The first positive results, although they show [you may be] heading in the right direction, does not guarantee future successes, since there is a risk of falling into new errors and going on a wrong path.

Discipline: Using a method to comply with rigor and effort. They [the spirits] commit themselves to fulfill their part, but mediums must correspond [to work] with them in identical measure. We must never forget that it is a shared work.

•And finally; Loyalty: Loyalty to a commitment, loyalty to a cause that in one way or another we are committed to carrying out…

If we cultivate all these values, besides a moral discipline as a pattern of behavior, as a lifestyle; then the help of spirit protectors, assistants, and guides, will be much more apparent.

The acts that come with this subject matter carries many risks, many difficulties, however, if the objective is achieved, and in the balance good works surpass bad ones, we will have released  numerous debts of the past that will allow us to return to the spirit world with joy and satisfaction.  Friends, hitherto unseen, will welcome us with open arms for the successes achieved together.

As the saying goes, hate begets hate. The first word always begets more of the same, no matter what the first word is.

Many people do not want to work for their happiness, they just want it to happen to them. They must practice love to receive it back, that is the Creator’s rules.

Like we have said many times, this is a planet in transition, and within this process we reap what we sow. When and if situations become so bad, then people will no longer stand for hate, lies, inequality, and things that are not right for the progression of souls.

People who have never stood up for the proper rights of all souls, may start making more of a stand.

There are so many that wish for the fall of human souls, and so many that wish for the progression of human souls. Each of these two sentiments attract like-minded disincarnated spirits that encourage each side.

Teach your children what is morally right and what is wrong.

Tell your leaders all the things they should be fixing and the things they should forget about. Tell them why you feel the changes you want should be for the good of all and the right things to do from your soul, heart and mind.

Pray for your officials and leaders, so they will be guided by the good spirits to do the right thing for their countries and all the people.

Pray for peace, harmony, forgiveness, and, that everyone will treat each other like brothers and sisters on your planet.

This may take a while to happen, but the Creator knows best, and if this planet is to become better, the spirits that have not progressed enough as the vast majority, they will be sent to a planet that is of their particular level.

Remember to pray no matter how short or long a prayer, make sure it comes from the heart.

Keep an open and kind heart. Practice peace, love and happiness. However, do not expect these things to come with no work on your part.

At a time when our country seems so divided, how wonderful to see so many human beings of all ages across so many states unified in experiencing one single marvelous event – the solar eclipse.

This took us away from the minutiae of our daily lives to contemplate a celestial marvel in our solar system and within the Cosmos.

There used to be only a few TV channels. I remember when there was only four. Millions of us in our country used to share the same cultural events, especially on TV, which when it was a good event it tended to unify us more as a nation. Sadly, these events seem to be few now.

So, when these good unifying events come along, it should remind us we are all in this together. It should remind us we need to take care of each other and our planet. All we have is each other.

United we stand, divided we fall.”

“Love thine enemies,” said Jesus.

To accept, with a certain amount of indifference, those who are the opposite of what and how we are, without animosity or resentfulness or hate, is taking the higher moral road.

Remember, each person is at a different level of moral, intellectual and spiritual development.

Spirits are born together into families, as well as others in close contact with us, so we can learn and teach each other, to pay back debts and/or as tests in life. No doubt there will be conflict.

Those who speak and act out of anger and hate will come to see more clearly, when the Divine Light of Love penetrates their soul…as they learn and have more experiences, and slowly progress.

Also, each person reaps what they sow, whether in the present or in future lives. So, it is morally wrong to be vengeful.

Be morally strong against those who express ill will towards you.

Keep good and pure thoughts of forgiveness towards those who speak and act out of ignorance.

Speak your truth bravely but in as clear, calm, and rational manner as possible.

Reject negativity. Try to spread harmony.

Pray daily for inner peace, calmness and spirit protection.

Love in thought, word and deed is the only true pathway to God!
TAKE YOUR BEST STEP

              Spirit Communication
                                by Julie L. Harper

Your act is worthwhile if it is morally and ethically sound... if it brings joy, consolation, peace, love, charity or any other good while void of intent to harm.

Pray to the good spirits that your steps are correct and that you walk in spiritual truth.

But if you falter, by misunderstanding or mistake, take solace in knowing that you are doing your best within this journey you call life.

And, remember that earthly life is but only a moment within the scope of your on-going existence.

You will experience existence(s) beyond the now to continue your path, explore new paths, but most importantly, continue your spiritual growth.

Through it all, rest assured that the truths of God's love support your every step, and missteps, all along the way of your continuance within the Creator's mandate to spiritually evolve.

May we be able to see and be grateful for all the good we have in our lives, despite the many struggles we may be going through. May our spirit guides help us to be steady and strong!
