LOVE
OF LIFE
Written by Fermín Hernández Hernández
What is the most
precious thing we have? Without a doubt, LIFE.
Life is the highest gift we receive from the Father [the Creator]. We must therefore feel grateful and satisfied for participating in His Work, for being a part of this sea of Life that surrounds us…created for all who inhabit it... It has given us the characteristics and capacities necessary to reach the highest levels of love, wisdom and perfection in our evolutionary development.
Let us love and thank Life… ours, our fellow beings, Nature, the Life of all created things. Feel respect and admiration for all living beings with whom we share evolution….
However, distressing and harsh our experiences may be, let us strive to understand the why and the what of our difficulties. Unhappiness, despair and anguish can restrict our faith and possibly lead to ruin - falling into abandonment and depression, the desire to not want to live longer, to succumb and even to accept suicide…
We are Beings of Light…we have the potential to overcome weakness and helplessness. Let us therefore raise our thoughts up, let us ask with all our strength for: Light, assistance and protection. We will receive the help we need for those difficult moments, and we will be able to continue in our daily work…

God…does not make
mistakes, loves us all equally and, each one is put at his/her feet the tests
and atonements necessary to strengthen and grow spiritually. When necessary,
through the Law of Cause and Effect, this makes us recover lost balance,
leaving this experience stored in our register of conscience to avoid repeating
the same mistakes again…
...WE ARE NEVER ALONE. Let us humble ourselves and keep the spirit of struggle always to face the vicissitudes with the best predisposition... let us not fall into rebellion and confusion. With such an attitude, we aggravate our situation and attract discordant energies, obsessive spirits that will enhance our discouragement and weaknesses.

chapter of our life with a good attitude and predisposition…Let us always love
the Creator, with humility and devotion…

TIME
Written by Jose Sanchez
LONGINGS ABOUT TIME
One of man’s
longings is to stop time – like water in winter. But what would happen if he
stopped time in the small things? What would happen to our future and the great
things to come? Where would be the experience and maturity we would never reach,
if time ceased to lead us to the future?
Another of man’s
longings is to have more time; and the longer we have, the longer we want-like
rain on the sea. But if we had more time, what else would we do, or would we
stop doing more? Who has stopped to study time or understand its meaning? Who
has stopped to appreciate its value? We just let the time pass without knowing at
what cost.
For those of us
who believe in the Spiritist doctrine, believing in the immortality of the
soul, we are left with the hope of remedying in the future the misuses of it today,
but similarly we do not value time.
WHAT IS TIME?
Time is not
hours, like hands on a clock. Time is not the day, like sand in an hourglass.
Time is the
opportunity to leave a footprint on the pathway of other men and on our
redemption. Time is the space to create our particular work and to mold our
spirit.
Time is the
moment which allows us to impact the lives of men. Time is the value we give to
what surrounds us.
Time does not come alone, but accompanied by opportunities and decisions that we must take.
Time is
dedication, discipline and effort.
Time is the train
of progress that moves us from one era to another, to give us new experiences
and opportunities. For behind every minute we invest, there is a decision about
what is important to us and what is not…
So, it is not
true when a man says, "I do not have time for what I like to do, or what I
need to do." If we do not have time, the bottom line is that it is not
important to us.
Let us not ask
for more time, but the wisdom to use what we have, because each [future period]
of time we will have greater responsibility.
REMEMBER:
We all have a
task in humanity; every man was given time to collaborate in the task of love. The
time we use does not belong to us, but to God.
The time we receive
is to sow, not to destroy or to err. Time does not stop nor wait for us,
because its function is to lead man to a new moment. Let us not see time as a fantasy,
let us see it as the path that awaits us every day. Time is not an end, but a
way. Time is the value we give to those around us. So, to understand time,
first stop to see what is important to you.
We do not need
more time, but to value what we have. Let us learn not to see the time on a
clock, but in the hand of which we support, in the smile of which we give back
hope, and in the greatness of the heart when it collects virtue, for that is
the time of the spirit that never ends and is renewed every day.

INTERNATIONAL WOMENS’ DAY
We Spiritists
respectfully honor…
AMALIA DOMINGO SOLER
(Sevilla
1835-1909)
Spiritist
author, poet, and feminist from Spain

In her own book entitled Memories, she tells us although
financially supported, she and her mother were abandoned by her father. She
became blind shortly after her birth and the doctors tried everything to no
avail. A homeopath was eventually able to provide imperfect sight.
Her mother was totally devoted to her, and
they cared for and loved each other very much. She was taught to read at age 5
and her first poems were published at age 18. After her father died they lived
off the inheritance, but then her mother came down with a terminal illness.
Left alone, she was 25 years old when her
mother died. Her inheritance was all but gone, leaving her almost penniless.
Her eyesight was still very bad.
She lived with various friends making a
meager living sewing and by her writings. She suffered hunger, many humiliations
and periods of blindness when she worked too hard. But, she refused to enter a
marriage of convenience or a convent as some friends suggested.
She reached a desperate point in her life
and visited many churches trying to find consolation and help. She even
contemplated suicide.
One day she met a man who introduced her to
some Spiritist papers that spoke about the evolution of the soul. This changed
her life forever. She found what she needed to deal with the trials and tests
in her life. She started attending Spiritists groups, sessions, and started
writing on topics of Spiritism (about and for women, for children, the poor, prisoners,
on Spiritist principles, rebuttals to the Catholic Church, human tragedy and
its causes). Her biography is
in the Dictionary of Espasa Calpe, a highly reputable
encyclopedia of Spain, as an important writer of the 19th century.
Her articles were printed in regular and
Spiritist magazines; there are over 8 books of her writings still published to
this day, and most contain spirit communications relayed to her via mediumship.
She also conducted worldwide correspondence.
The guide of her spiritual work was the
spirit of “Father Germain” - who
dictated his life story to her when he was on earth as a priest via the medium
Eudaldo. This famous Spiritist classic in the form of a novel - Memoirs of Father Germain – is her only
book in English translated by my father Edgar
Crespo and on www.Amazon.com. Father
Germain was also a medium, believed in reincarnation and many good spirits
assisted him. This book is a beautiful story of love, moral lessons, hope,
consolation, intrigue and adventure.
In many books, she was given explanations
from the spirit world about the cause of why specific people suffered in
certain ways in their life, due to their actions in past lives.
Finally, Ms. Soler’s Center president
invited her to live with his family, to dedicate her life solely to her
writings. She died in Barcelona in 1909.
She and her work, is greatly respected and beloved
by many worldwide!
MY
GRANDMOTHER - MEDIUM
Written by Yvonne Crespo Limoges
Spiritism teaches that there are many types
of mediums. Yet, three distinct categories of “trance” mediums (those where the
spirits communicate using a person’s physical body to speak) can be conscious (medium is completely aware of
what is going on during the spirit communications), semi-conscious (medium partly aware) or an unconscious medium (not aware at all). However, in my experience, there
are many mediums in, in-between states as well, and these situations can even
fluctuate depending on the specific spirit communicating.
Each medium is very individually different.
My grandmother (my father’s mother) was the
first completely unconscious medium I ever saw work their mediumship. She could
also, when conscious, see and hear spirits, and see visions as well.
At the start of the spirit communication
session, she would sit down, put her hands on the table, and then head would
just limp forward. Spirits would then come and go, using her, delivering their
messages.
After no more spirits were going to
communicate, she would sort of come to and lift her head. She then would
curiously ask what had happened. She knew nothing!
When I was little, us kids always noticed
that whenever she entered a house, no matter who’s it was, she would sway a
little at the door as if a wave hit her, then she would stabilize herself and
come in. Of course, we thought this was rather strange.
Now that I am acutely aware of how
sensitive mediums can be regarding their surroundings, as a medium myself, it
is now obvious she was highly sensitive to the spiritual ambience of whatever
“space” she was entering, and this affected her until she adjusted. Since she
was an unconscious medium, I believe she would have been even more sensitive.
At the Spiritist Center in NYC (founded in
1933) that she attended, and as some call it, she was a “working medium”; she
specialized in being used by the spirits to give healing passes to help people
with eye problems, besides spirit communications.
My Dad told me of an experience they both
shared together in their apartment in New York City, when one day his father
was still not home from work. His mom and he a young boy were both in the
living room when all of a sudden, they heard the noises coming from the
kitchen: the sound of water rushing hard out of the faucet, also pots and pans
clanging. He said, they both looked at each other puzzled, and his mother was afraid
someone had gotten in. Eventually, my father bravely went to the kitchen to
see. There was no one there and the sink was as dry as a bone. Only the
spirits! No other information was forthcoming, and it never happened again.
The first time I allowed a spirit to use my
body for trance mediumship, my grandmother’s spirit communicated and said she
would be one of the spirits to help me with the process.
Nearly my entire life has been involved
interacting with spirits. I thank the assistance, inspiration and influence of
the good spirits, and thank God above all else. As an imperfect human, I try to
do my best to merit beneficial influences.
