Spiritist Society of Florida, U.S.A. -

Our prayers go out to those who were subject to the violent attack in Aurora, Colorado. We also pray for our soldiers; especially so many who feel the need to commit suicide upon returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

And, we send our prayers to all those around the world who suffer from any kind of violence!

One day our loved ones are gone. Most often when we least expect it and without warning; we say good-bye to whom we truly love.

In our chest is pain, and every hug of condolence, seems to weigh us down more.

Earthly life has a beginning, middle and end. Death is as old as Life, but we never get use to it; breaking the emotional ties that have given us support. We feel when we lose someone, because we have so much attachment, that the passing time is really painful.

But just when we feel abandoned, there are words and gestures of encouragement that ultimately convince us that we are never far away

from our truly beloved. For loved ones are eternal companions!

Time is our medicine because only through it, can we secure consolation, balancing the memories of the good times with the hope of reunion in the next dimension.

Sadness [due to someone’s return to the spirit world] is a natural response of the human condition. So natural, it is at times necessary. It is a condition of the spirit in the material world. In spite of this, we have our reason which tells us what we know full well, that we need to have faith in the Divine Laws, and trust in the belief of immortality.

We practice for release from the material, in each and every lifetime, and the loss of the presence of loved ones is one of those exercises.

(The two preceding articles of consolation and wisdom- translated from the Spanish by Y. Limoges.)

Our loved ones are calmer on the other side, if they feel we are not so distraught with grief over their temporary absence from us. Pray for calmness and healing, for you and for them!

Spirit communication received by Yvette Crespo

This particular family has picked difficult trials and everyone has come into this life time with their own particular “baggage” from past lives....

Some tests and trials were selected prior to incarnating, the rest of any troubles are due to the choices each one made while here now in this life.

All must be played out.

Only prayer, faith and courage can see each through their own situation.

Making good choices no matter how difficult is important, so as to change any course... which will head towards a better pathway.

(This spirit message received for a particular family but we share it as it applies to many. Remember, we should all strive not to become bitter or resentful under our trials and tests. Y.L.)

People see so much suffering in the world and they ask, “Where is God?”

However, all imperfect spirits-in-development endure the consequences of their acts until they have morally and spiritually advanced and perfected themselves.

It is through learning experiences that correct behavior and the many opportunities given for making amends that spirits take responsibility for themselves via reincarnation, which provides for the continual progress of mankind in an evolutionary process to eventually, better itself and the conditions of the planet.

When situations arise in life, many panic and/or react only with their emotions.

Yet, this is when one should try to calm down first, pray for guidance from your spirit guides and use the intelligence that God gave you to seek logical solutions. You should then act or not, doing what you believe to be best, leaving the rest in God’s Hands according to His laws and having strong faith in whatever may come.

At the Spiritist center in NYC where my father and my grandparents attended, the soul of a child communicated at a mediumship session. My father relayed the following story:

The child was mentally challenged and could not talk when awake in the material world.

The soul of the child first indicated that it was his body that was asleep on the bench and told his parents not to be sad for him and his condition. He had asked for this particular state for his own spiritual advancement. He also thanked his parents for their loving care of him, but also told them this situation was a test for them as well.

How wonderful God and the good spirits allowed such an informative exchange for the expression of a son’s love to his parents through the faculty of mediumship. This also shows that there are divine and just causes behind many of the illnesses in this world of which we will find out eventually their causes upon return to the spirit world.

Prayer is good action against disharmony. But, it's is not enough to pray to God, superior spirits, or loved ones.

These acts show intention and may solicit supportive spiritual assistance. However, the truth of our inner sentiment is what draws good spirits to help with circumstances.

The conditions of our lives reflect the sentiments of our hearts.

So, before prayer, be honest with yourself to realize the root of where prayer is best directed since circumstances are the symptom of spiritual conditions.

And remember that all circumstances exist not only by promoted feelings, beliefs, or intentions - but also by the allowance of God in order that we may spiritually progress. In that, all is in divine order.

Maintain a loving heart and act with love to ultimately clear disharmony for peace and happiness. The good spirits are drawn to and will aid good conduct, occurring by the spiritual law of “like attracts like.”

Keep only love in your heart to keep only love in your home - both your spiritual and physical home.....with blessings from the spirit world.

(NOTE: Prayers are not enough to help you with the disharmony in your life if your inner sentiments and behavior are contrary to right conduct or goodness. You must make the attempt to put forth your own efforts to do the right thing. God helps those who help themselves! – Y.L.)

I was invited by the director of a Spiritist center (whose members were composed of mostly born in Brazil) to come explain Spiritism to their husbands and boyfriends born in the United States. I gave my presentation, we had a very nice question and answer session and they seemed to have a better grasp of the philosophy. Later, delicious food was served and everyone visited and chatted.

I spoke to several members there, all who were very nice. However, it was with one particular lady that I encountered a problem.

Every time we tried to get physically close to speak to each other, we both got an electric shock. We kept trying, but to no avail. No one else had this problem, but me and her. We could only continue our conversation from a safe distance.

When I got home I checked Kardec’s The Mediums’ Book. I remembered reading about this.  I found on page 177, item 163, what he called people with strong energy “human torpedoes” and they were generally not mediums (she admitted she was not), but they were “endowed with a large amount of natural electricity.” As a sensitive medium, I was able to feel this lady’s strong energy. When the energies around both of us touched each other, we both got a strong shock! Wow!

I have to say that as a psychic and a medium, at times, when meeting people, I perceive different energies, impressions and also see spirits around them, some good and some not so good. I do have my wonderful spirit guides and spiritual protection… but I am still sensitive to my surroundings. Meeting this sweet lady was a very different and interesting experience for me!

Some people go through it at one time or another in their lives; it is a time of great sorrow, of great hurt.

When all hope seems to go out the door; whatever the cause: empty feelings; low self-esteem; poor health; financial or marital troubles; loss of job, health or other things, etc., etc.

Despair may be one the worst things one can go through. It is a feeling that no matter what one tries to do, nothing seems to make it go away no matter how hard one tries.

This leaves one open to self-hatred and self-pity which can sometimes plunge a person into either depression or denial and/or all manner of vices small or large. The person comes to lose all hope.

It is a most extremely difficult thing when a person finally pulls themselves out of this black hole of despair to seek the light of renewal, redemption and hope.

When it is a very long road back from such deep despair, and the longer one has stayed in it, the longer the recovery they will have.

Look at these poor ones as having a sickness of the soul.

Family should strive to be as supportive of them as possible and prayer is extremely helpful.

Help all those you can who you may find in this condition. Give them the hope they need to seek self-recovery, self-love and self-liberation.

Those who know of Spiritism have been given this knowledge as a gift in this lifetime. May God help them to use it wisely!

Dear God, although we know your laws are perfect and nothing happens without just cause, we are so weak at times that we fear we will succumb under the weight of our trials and tests.

How anxious we get when awaiting important news, how disappointed we are when those we love hurt us, how overwhelmed we feel when our life seems so out of control, and how difficult it is to face our own faults and how demanding upon us in trying to correct them.

Please give us the strength we lack to support these and other sorrows because that is how we learn, progress and our souls evolve. But we are not alone; your Divine Light shines about all of us if we but absorb its radiance to sustain us.

Our spirit guides intervene to inspire, encourage and counsel us if we but listen. It is up to us to stay in humble communion with them for their kind and charitable guidance.

We must strive hard to use the freewill that was given us to gain all the willpower we can muster to provide balance in all the areas of our lives, and try to be good to ourselves and others.

Although the path of life is not easy, mostly due to our own making, let us be ever grateful that we have the tremendous and blessed opportunity, as long as it takes, to right every wrong we have ever committed, to educate ourselves regarding the mysteries of the universe, and to know that out in horizon of eternity we will reach the final potential of our soul. - AMEN
